Beyond the tulip fields of South Holland, nestled between Amsterdam and The Hague, lies the seaside town of Noordwijk, which features a dedicated dog beach for playful escapades along the North Sea. Noordwijk is a charming town and municipality in the western Netherlands, situated in South Holland. It spans an area of 51.45 km² (19.86 sq mi), of which 15.97 km² (6.17 sq mi) is water, and had a population of 25,600 in 2014.
The municipality comprises two communities: Noordwijk aan Zee and Noordwijk-Binnen, divided by a slender green belt.
In addition to its stunning beaches, Noordwijk is renowned for its vibrant bulb flower fields and is part of the picturesque “Dune and Bulb Region.”
Notably, Noordwijk is also home to the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), which is part of the European Space Agency (ESA). The ESA’s visitor center, Space Expo, features a permanent exhibition dedicated to space exploration.
